In 1996, Dhampur Sugar
Mills under the aegis of the Sugar
Technology Mission
embarked on the project to make
sugar that would be sparkling white, pure and manufactured
without any toxic chemicals like sulphur dioxide in order to produce a
safer and healthier sugar. The result was Dhampure - India's first double
refined sulphurless sugar.
Dhampure is a better sugar simply because its processing continues long after that of ordinary sugar has stopped.

The secret behind Dhampure's purity is the unique Defeco Remelt process, in which the sugar after it has crystallized is melted all over again and all the impurities are removed without the use of sulphur.
